Checking In

Hello loves! I'm not abandoning y'all. Just trying to figure out life with 2 children. NBD. I hope to pick back up to blogging at least a couple of times a week starting next week. 

Things here are wonderful and exhausting, as it is for every new mom. This is the main reason I haven't made it to the computer: 

He's a hungry little fellow.  We're working on pushing it to 3 hours, at least at night, but newborns do their thang. It's worth it and I know when he's 16 he'll sleep 14 hours a day.

He's Here!!

Well y'all, late last night I took my last bump pic of the year.  

And this morning at 9:22 am, we welcomed Christopher Patrick Robertson into the world. 7 lbs 2 oz 19 inches long and rather hairy. He's perfect and wonderful and we are so in love! 

Of course, I'll be taking a little time off to enjoy all my boys. But I'll be back soon!

Makin' Me Blush

                         

Y'all are the sweetest! Seriously, your comments about Little Robertson's Nursery were so unexpected! It's so easy to post beautiful images of other people's houses on this blog, but hitting publish on a room I did myself, using what I have plus like $150, is kind of frightening.  So thank y'all for making me feel so good! 

I have to say the room does feel like a cloud and a nice respite from the colorful toys that are currently all over the floors of every room in the house (Edward loves a good basket dump). My current rotund condition does not allow for the whole "bending over and picking up" action necessary to clear the floors. So now I just kick things to the side or try in vain to convince Edward to pick them up.

Anyhoo, many of y'all have commented on the crib situation, which is by far my favorite part of the nursery!

Here are a few sources for ya: 

• Crib: Restoration Hardware Sutton Canopy Crib - unfortunately it's no longer available, probably because it's one of those dangerous drop-side cribs.  We bought it just before the whole drop-side recall happened.  They sent us a kit to disable that feature and make it secure, but I'm guessing they decided to go ahead and discontinue it as well.  Sad :(


• Pillows: The fabric is Sanderson Pagoda River from Aurelia6311 on Etsy.  It doesn't look like she has any available in this fabric right now, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.  She does have a similar blue and white cushion cover in Schumacher Nanjing, which I love. 


• Monogrammed Crib Sheet: Also from Etsy! The shop is called SennCreations.  I did a black monogram and strangely in shipping the sheet turned purple.  She was so accommodating and offered to make me another one, but after washing it a couple times the purple came out.  So strange!


• Painting: Made by moi using this Pinterest tutorial.  I am no artist y'all, and I did like 12 of these before I got anything decent.  I have so much respect for all of y'all that create these beautiful and colorful abstract pieces! It's hard, and I always take it one step too far.  I ended up really liking this one because it looks like a little heart floating in the clouds, which is pretty much what holding a newborn feels like.

Little Robertson's Nursery is finished-ish!

Morning Y'all! Well, the nursery is basically finished.  I mean there's always more that could be done, especially when one is posting pictures on a blog for millions 12 people to see.  I pretty much worked with everything I already had from Edward's nursery (including the ill-fitting ottoman slipcover - don't judge, it does it's job).  Although this nursery is very different from Edward's bright and colorful nursery.  This one's a bit more grown-up and soft.  It helps that we inherited some pretty fabulous wallpaper from the previous owners.  I can take no credit for that, except that I kept it.



So with all of those caveats (I'm resisting the urge to point out everything wrong with the room), I give you Little Robertson's nursery. 



Come on in!

The pillows on the floor are for floor time.  Something I didn't realize was a thing until after I had Edward.  Basically, when you have a baby, you spend a lot of time on the floor.  A lot.

I opted for no bumper this time around because apparently it's dangerous so I put dangerous pillows in there instead.  

Yes, we have a name.  Any guesses? 

I love that you can see the black and white awnings out of the window.

His first cashmere suit.  I would like one just like it.



The dresser, side table and changing table are all Kip's old furniture that we painted for Edward's nursery.  I also replaced the knobs with alphabet knobs from Hobby Lobby.

So there it is! Now we are waiting on Little Robertson to grace us with his presence! I definitely won't go past my due date.  Really it could be any day now.  I'm guessing I have a little more time, but you never know, babies be babies!

Baby Things

Morning y'all! Last night I posted a sneak peek at the nursery on Instagram.  I just hung my DIY artwork and my not-so-DIY tissue tassel garland that I ordered from here on Etsy. 

              

It's almost finished! I'm just waiting on my crib sheet and a magical fairy to come hang all of the baby clothes that I washed and set on the rocking chair.  As soon as those two things happen (along with a little zhushing), I'll take some pics for y'all! Hopefully next week.  

I don't want to build it up too much though.  I kept it pretty simple, since we're not sure how this room will play out over the long term. (Will it be Little Robertson's Big Boy Room? Will it be another nursery? Who knows.  I'm certainly in no state of mind to make those decisions right now.)

I love how Kate rocked the post-pregnancy bump.  She looks amazing and could have easily hidden it, but she totally showed it off.  She did all of us pregnant ladies a favor.  I may or may not be packing some polka-dots for my Going Home Outfit.  But let's be honest, I'll probably end up leaving in my bathrobe. 



Speaking of Going Home Outfits, how sweet is this little wrap sack from Kristaben?

I can tell you, it is the softest jersey fabric you'll ever feel.  Edward had a little pair of Kristaben footie pajamas that I was kind of obsessed with. 



Finally, I need a baby monitor recommendation.  We had two Summer Infant monitors with Edward, both of which peaced-out on us.  One never worked in the dark and the other just went black.  Any recommendations would be great!



The countdown is on! Anytime in the next 3 weeks would be great.  I'm beyond ready!
